The Munda International Airport Terminal is located on New Georgia Island in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands. The project was funded by the World Bank and includes a new international airport terminal and associated facilities.
Throughout the project's implementation, the construction team adhered to eco-friendly principles, creating a bright, well-ventilated, comfortable, and breathable indoor waiting environment. The architectural design drew inspiration from the Melanesian canoe, fully integrates the building with the natural surroundings, vividly demonstrates the local culture, and enhances earthquake resistance and fire safety features.
As the first modern terminal in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands, the completion of the Munda International Airport Terminal will significantly enhance transportation connections between the Western Province of the Solomon Islands, neighboring regions, and adjacent countries. It is expected to increase the annual passenger capacity of relevant routes from 13,000 to 25,000 people, and boost growth of regional economic development including local tourism, trade, and related industries
