The construction of the LRT East Line in Macao officially commenced on Oct 20, and the line is expected to be completed and put into use in 2028.
The LRT East Line will have six stations with a total length of about 7.7 kilometers, connecting Macao's Portas do Cerco, New Urban Zone A, New Urban Zone E, and the existing Taipa Ferry Terminal Station of the LRT Taipa Line. The north segment of the East Line, covering about 2.9 kilometers and constructed and operated by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, NamKwong Real Estate Co., Ltd., and China Railway 16th Group Corporation Limited, will include the construction of three underground stations, three sections of shield tunnels, and land reclamation.
Once completed, the LRT East Line will provide connectivity to major sea, land, and air ports, such as the Border Gate, Taipa Ferry Terminal, the international airport, and Hengqin Port. This expansion will further meet the travel needs of residents and tourists, contributing to the development of the "One-Hour Living Circle" in the Greater Bay Area.
The LRT East Line is another key livelihood project undertaken by Nan Kwong Group, following the construction of the LRT extension Hengqin Line and the access bridge connecting the University of Macau and Hengqin Port. It plays a crucial role in enhancing economic prosperity, transportation connectivity, and cultural exchange between Guangdong and Macao.
