Construction of the main body of the HAI YANG SHI YOU 122 Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) plant, the first cylindrical FPSO facility in Asia, was completed on Dec 6.
Designed and developed by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), the facility is currently under construction in the high-tech equipment manufacturing base of Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. of CNOOC in Qingdao, East China's Shandong Province.
The HAI YANG SHI YOU 122 FPSO plant consists of the ship body and the upper function module, with a largest diameter of about 90 meters.
It has a deck as large as the area of 13 standard football pitches and a height equaling that of a 30-story building.
With a total weight of about 36,000 metric tons, the facility is made up of nearly 500,000 spare parts, has a designed fully loaded displacement of 100,000 tons and a designed life span of 30 years. It is capable of storing 60,000 tons of oil.
Adopting the new-type cylindrical structure, the FPSO plant has lower oil field development and operation costs and unmanned production is realized thanks to the sea-integrated smart central control system, which is a brand-new mode of smart and digital construction of offshore oil field facilities.
Construction of the facility started in March 2022.
The HAI YANG SHI YOU 122 FPSO plant is scheduled to be completed next year and will be used in China's first deepwater oilfield – the Liuhua 11-1 in the South China Sea. It is expected to process about 5,600 tons of crude oil.
