The second phases of the Lufeng 8-1, 9-2 and 14-8 oilfield projects are ready for production, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announced on Jan 3.
The projects include construction of a new drilling platform about 180 kilometers Southeast of Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province.
With a total height pf 228 meters and a weight of more than 24,000 metric tons, the platform covers an area equaling that of nearly seven basketball courts. It serves production, drilling and living requirements of 140 crew members. Its operation will be conducted approximately 136 meters under water on average.
The platform is equipped with two Taihang 7 gas power generator units. The Taihang 7 is China's first offshore gas power turbine with complete independent intellectual property rights.
Jointly developed by nearly 300 enterprises and institutes including CNOOC and Aero Engine Corporation of China, the turbine has outstanding performance in power, starting speed, energy consumption and easy maintenance.
It can generate more than 5,000 kilowatt-hours of power an hour, meeting production and living demands of the Lufeng 8-1 oil production platform.
What's more, Taihang 7 is fitted with the online switching mode of diesel and associated gas, which means that it can use diesel and the associated gas produced during oil and gas development. It is of great significance in improving economical and environmentally-friendly oil and gas development.
According to CNOOC, within a year, 14 wells are planned to be built in the oilfields. It is anticipated that by 2025, the oilfields will reach a peak production of approximately 22,600 barrels of crude oil per day and 680,000 tons annually.
