Spring Festival, or the Chinese New Year, for the Chinese people not only means family reunions, but also a feast with yummy food from all over the world.
China Southern Airline Company Limited (China Southern) has contributed to improving the Spring Festival experience with its worldwide logistic chain.
As one of the cargo aircraft pilots working for China Southern, Zhang Ling said that he hoped the fresh food from around the world would add to Chinese people’s happiness during the vacation.

“Spring Festival travel rush nowadays is not only for people, but also for food from around the world,” Zhang said, adding that cross-border e-commerce has broken regional barriers, allowing consumers to purchase goods from all corners of the world.
During the vacation, the overseas Chinese preferred Spring Festival-themed goods from their hometown, leading to an increase in international air freight volumes. The Chinese Spring Festival-themed goods have brought the Chinese New Year culture to the world.
Meanwhile, as logistics provide fast and reliable transportation for the cross-border e-commerce industry, they have made international goods like flowers from Amsterdam in Netherlands, cherries from Chile, seafood from North America, wine from France and nuts from Pakistan emerge and gain in popularity in the Chinese market.
Due to extreme weather like snow storms in Central China this year, the Spring Festival travel rush was especially hard.
Zhang led the pilot team in improving safety guarantee measures and plans, and strengthened potential risk identification, ensuring the absolute safety of each flight.
Zhang has won a good reputation for safe flights for the past 28 years. Flight safety matters a lot, he said.
He has carried out several cargo flights between Guangzhou in South China’s Guangdong Province and New York in the United States, and Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality and Amsterdam since Jan 20, 2024.
“I’m happy and proud to contribute to Spring Festival and a happy New Year for people,” he said.
