The communication technology experiment satellite was generally developed by the China Academy of Space Technology, a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). It will be mainly used to verify multi-band and high-speed communication technology.
The Long March 5 carrier rocket, generally developed by CASC’s China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, is a 2.5-stage liquid-fuel rocket with a take-off weight of about 877 metric tons and a take-off thrust of about 1,068 tons. It currently has the largest carrying capacity among Chinese carrier rockets.
The launch on Feb 23 was the 7th mission of the Long March 5 rocket and the 509th mission of the Long March series.
