Yantai Port's Vehicle Exports Surpass 10,000 Units

Updated: March 05, 2024

One hundred Japanese-made commercial vehicles were recently unloaded at the Yantai Port of Shandong Port Group (SPG) in East China’s Shandong Province, from where they will be sent to Central Asian countries by China-Europe freight trains.

The first Northeast Asia-Yantai-Central Asia intermodal train service for commercial vehicles was launched in July 2021. It is estimated that the sea-rail service takes only half as long as seaborne transport.

So far, a total of 10,350 commercial vehicles have been delivered through the service, contributing to the economic growth of countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, as well as member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

As a logistics base and a logistics hub for commercial vehicles in Shandong and North China, Yantai Port has been in full swing in building a port-centered integrated supply chain service system, and acting as a partner in global auto supply industrial chains.

The port had a year-on-year growth of 16.3 percent in vehicle traffic this January.

At present, it has 14 routes for commercial vehicle transportation, connecting more than 30 countries and regions such as the East and West Coast of the US, South America, Mexico, East Africa, West Africa, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

In the worldwide transportation network, Yantai Port is a demonstration vehicle terminal in Shandong with the largest capacity, the greatest number of liner services and the most comprehensive transportation modes.
