The first batch of jackets for the Saudi Aramco CRPO122 project was recently completed in Qingdao, Shandong province, marking a significant advancement in the construction of China's first independent offshore oil and gas EPC project for Saudi Aramco.
The project, undertaken by China Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (COOEC), was supplied with H-beam raw materials from Magang (Group) Holding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited (China Baowu).
It is of great importance for further expanding the Middle Eastern market and promoting oil and gas cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road.
Over the years, H-beams have been widely used in maritime projects such as ports and offshore platforms, earning high recognition and trust from both domestic and international contractors and clients for their high strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance.
In October 2023, Magang (Wuhu) Materials Technology Co., Ltd. seized market opportunities and cooperated with Offshore Oil Engineering (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. for the first time, exclusively supplying nearly a thousand tons of Masteel H-beam products.
The CRPO122 project is the first Saudi Aramco project independently undertaken by COOEC in an EPCI capacity. The project is located in the world's largest offshore oil field, the Safaniya in Saudi Arabia, which lies approximately 165 miles north of Dammam in the Arabian Gulf with a maximum water depth of around 43 meters.
COOEC is responsible for the EPCI of 13 platform jackets (including steel piles and conductor casings), with a total weight of approximately 25,000 tons. The CRPO122 project is characterized by being "short, precise, and fast," with high technical difficulty and quality standards. Magang (Group) Holding Co., Ltd. arranged production for the H-beams and provided strong support for the on-schedule completion of the jackets.
