CHN Energy Successfully Clears Customs Clearance for Inaugural Mongolian Coal Shipment

Updated: July 01, 2025

On June 25, a total of 3,328 tons of Mongolian coal left Tavan Tolgoi Station under the Mongolian Railway State-owned Shareholding Company. The shipment successfully passed customs clearance via a combined rail-road transport route, reaching the Chiheng Supervision Zone of the Ganqimaodu Port.

This marks a solid step forward in China Energy Investment Corporation Co., Ltd. (CHN Energy)’s trilateral China-Mongolia energy cooperation project that integrates cross-border rail transport, coal trade, and coal mine capacity expansion, officially launching the implementation phase of its long-term coal import contract.

The integrated cooperation project — encompassing cross-border rail transport, coal trade, and coal mine capacity expansion — plays a significant role in enhancing China-Mongolia economic and trade relations.

The long-term coal import contract will strengthen CHN Energy’s energy supply capacity, extend its industrial chain, expand market reach, and promote coordinated industrial development. It also boosts the company’s presence and competitiveness in the international energy market.

To ensure the smooth departure of the first train, CHN Energy’s e-commerce subsidiary held multiple rounds of communication and coordination with Mongolian Railway State-owned Shareholding Company and Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi JSC. The teams made comprehensive preparations regarding coal stacking and shipping management, sampling and testing procedures, and logistics organization and support.

The company is currently working to further advance the implementation of the long-term coal trade agreement, expand its presence in the Mongolian coal market, deepen bilateral energy cooperation, and promote mutually beneficial development, according to CHN Energy.
