Inspired by conversations with his Chinese colleagues, Christian developed a keen interest in Chinese culture and language. He shared, our discussions often revolve “around food, which has become a favorite topic of ours beyond work”.
After six years with Pluz Energia Peru, Christian initially hesitated when he discovered the company would merge with CSG in 2024. Uncertain about adapting to the new corporate environment, he found solace in the gradual fading of language and cultural barriers through daily collaboration.
As time progressed, the Peruvian and Chinese teams seamlessly adjusted to each other's communication styles. Christian admired the Chinese team's reverence for local culture and CSG's commitment to preserving Pluz Energia Peru's original management approach.
In 2024, Pluz Energia Peru completed all major performance targets as planned. Leading a 13-person team, Christian manages corporate planning, budgeting, and risk control with expertise honed during his tenure at Siemens and ABB. His experience in handling multicultural teams from these roles proves invaluable in his current joint Sino-Peruvian envronment.
Christian also set a personal goal of learning Chinese to deepen communication with his colleagues. Beyond language, food has become an unexpected bridge — his Chinese teammates introduced him to dishes he had never tried before, from soup dumplings to steamed ribs. “These dishes were always on the menu — I just hadn’t discovered them yet. It’s the same with work: new things often require someone to point the way.”
This mindset now informs his leadership approach. When developing budgeting strategies, he combines the Chinese team’s strengths in cost control with his team’s deep understanding of the local market.
Currently, Christian and his Chinese colleagues are working together to automate financial reporting and strengthen data integration. Looking ahead, they plan to implement business intelligence tools to enhance planning, analysis, and overall company performance — advancing Pluz Energia Peru’s growth through shared expertise and cross-cultural collaboration.
