Chalco Guinea Helps Restore Emergency Power in Boffa

Updated: July 29, 2025

In downtown Boffa, Guinea, a brand-new 160 kVA transformer was recently installed and put into use, fully restoring electricity to local residents after days of power outages.

The Aluminum Corporation of China Limited (Chalco) Guinea stepped up after an urgent plea from the Boffa provincial government on July 17. Due to continuous heavy rains, a major transformer in the city suffered severe damage, resulting in power outages across parts of the urban area and seriously affecting residents’ daily lives and business operations.

Chalco Guinea attached great importance to this pressing issue and immediately activated its emergency response mechanism. A repair team was swiftly dispatched to the site, and the company worked overnight to coordinate with suppliers. Within just 24 hours, the new transformer was procured and delivered to Boffa.

On July 19, the repair team began installing the equipment. After five hours of intense work, power was successfully restored by the afternoon.

Chalco Guinea aligns its growth with the needs of local residents and continues to support Boffa Province through initiatives in sports and culture, healthcare, and emergency relief — contributing to local prosperity and the well-being of the community.
