The 3.1-kilometer double-layer bridge connects the opposite sides of the Feiyun River. It is the first bridge in Zhejiang to serve multiple transport functions, such as urban expressway and railway, first-class highway and slow traffic system. The upper layer of the bridge has six expressways and the lower layer has four first-class highways and two railways for metros. The 740-meter main bridge can accommodate ships through its 260-meter opening. The Yongning Bridge has become a new landmark owing to its unique structure of 37-meter gate-shaped towers and V-shaped piers.
The bridge is designed by the China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute Co., Ltd. under the China Railway Group Limited. The design team has made multiple breakthroughs to ensure convenient shipment and precise engineering. They adopted double-layered steel trusses in an optimized structure to enhance rigidity and achieve space efficiency. The bridge will reduce the driving time between Rui’an County and Jiangnan New Area from 30 minutes to five minutes. It will promote coordinated development of Rui’an and Wenzhou, integrate Wenzhou into the Yangtze River Delta region and boost the marine economic growth in Zhejiang.
