China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has made every effort to ensure stable fuel supplies for the disaster‑hit areas, after a devastating mudslide hit Gyirong County in Southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region.
In the wake of the disaster, CNPC’s Xizang sales branch launched collaborative emergency response procedures with the local branch of CNPC Kunlun Logistics Co., Ltd., to deliver round‑the‑clock support for disaster‑relief operations and coordinate overall disaster response arrangements.
The company promptly reported its fuel reserves and emergency measures to the regional emergency management authorities and the Xigaze municipal authorities, and proactively aligned its work with their disaster‑relief plans. Prominent signs were put up and dedicated green channels were opened at its service stations to give priority to refueling vehicles involved in rescue and relief operations. The company also set up charity counters where relief workers could get supplies for free.

CNPC’s Xizang sales branch has sent out seven truckloads of fuel, totaling 206 metric tons, to service stations along the route to disaster-hit areas, ensuring they remained fully stocked. It also dispatched four small delivery vehicles to the disaster-hit areas and organized emergency response teams at local service stations to ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies around the clock.

After the mudslide, CNPC Kunlun Logistics Co., Ltd., promptly mobilized its resources for relief efforts to ensure the smooth operation of emergency response, fuel supplies and production safety. Its Xizang branch immediately made contact with drivers who were transporting fuel in Tingri, another county in Xigaze, to confirm their personal safety and check vehicle conditions. The branch leveraged its transportation capacity and organizational strengths to coordinate fuel deliveries in the disaster-hit areas in a safe and efficient manner.

Upon receiving the notice for emergency response, the branch activated its emergency fuel transportation plan. It dispatched four 10‑ton small delivery vehicles, five 32‑ton diesel tankers and two 64‑ton gasoline tankers from Xigaze to a local service station in Gyirong to ensure a stable fuel supply. Faced with traffic control on sections of roads leading to the county, it proactively communicated with relevant local authorities to ensure smooth fuel delivery.

The logistics branch will continue to follow up on the disaster relief efforts, especially the changes in fuel demand, while further strengthening transportation coordination and safety management to support rescue and relief efforts with reliable fuel supplies.
