The summer travel rush has drawn to a close and Hainan Strait Shipping Co., Ltd. (HNSS), a subsidiary of China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING), has played a major role in maritime transport across the Qiongzhou Strait and Bohai Bay. By coordinating resources across these waters, HNSS coordinated 65 vessels for 11,198 trips during this travel season, transporting a total of 728,000 vehicles and over 2.51 million passengers.
The number of vehicles and passengers moving to and from the summer resort of Hainan ballooned. By leveraging real‑time data shared between ports on both sides of the Qiongzhou Strait and capitalizing on an intelligent scheduling system that aligned transport capacity with need, HNSS successfully hit a daily peak of 206 trips.
It also set up dedicated passages and service teams for transporting new-energy vehicles and agricultural products, significantly cutting the time it took for vehicles to embark after reaching the port.
In Bohai Bay, a passenger transportation branch under COSCO SHIPPING fostered a “shipping + cultural tourism + sports” model by collaborating with hotels and scenic spots. Football fans from Northeast China could take ferries to watch matches, and tourists heading to the beer festival in Dalian, Northeast China, could buy a combination ticket for the ship and scenic areas. The elderly and children could enjoy dedicated passages, where staff members would escort them from the security check to embarkation.
